Discovering the East Cape of Los Cabos

Last October, my husband and I took a much-needed five-day escape to the East Cape of Los Cabos to the stunning Costa Palmas area overlooking the Sea of Cortez. While Los Cabos is well known for its lively energy and dramatic desert-meets-ocean landscapes. Costa Palmas offers a completely different side of the destination, one that is wonderfully uncrowded.

For travelers seeking a luxury beach vacation with space to truly unwind, this part of Baja California Sur is quickly becoming one of Mexico’s most exciting destinations.

When most people think of Los Cabos, they picture the busy corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Costa Palmas sits about an hour north of the airport on the East Cape, a stretch of coastline that feels worlds away from the party scene. Development in this area has been intentionally thoughtful and low-density. The result is a destination perfect for couples, honeymooners, and anyone craving a true reset.

The East Cape is also one of the only swimmable beach areas in Los Cabos, thanks to the calmer waters of the Sea of Cortez.

We stayed at the Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas and were blown away. From the service to the food, to everything in between, FS Costa Palmas went well above our expectations. We spent our days eating, swimming, and then eating some more. Read a more in-depth review of our stay here.
